Coya brings modern Peruvian cuisine to the heart of London, and have teamed up with Casamigos Tequila to create one of the best tasting menus I've experienced so far this year. Made using handpicked Blue Weber agave grown in the Highlands of Jalisco in Mexico, this tequila is smooth and very drinkable neat... with no salt or lime in sight! We sampled all three varieties – Blanco (aged for 2 months), Reposado (7 months) and Añejo (14 months) - each paired with a different course of dishes.
We kicked off the evening with a Casamigos Tequila-based cocktail that Coya created especially for this menu. Named 'Maya-Huel' (meaning God of Agave), it packs an exotic punch with pomegranate, mint, lemon, maraschino and fresh raspberries.
Rarely have I experienced such an extensive tasting menu with not a single dud dish. I genuinely enjoyed each and every bite. Pictured below: Tiradito de Cobia (cobia, edamame, baby gem, ponzu); Lubina Clasico (sea bass, red onion, sweet potato, white corn); Ensalada de Maiz (josper corn, crispy corn, sweet onion, red chilli); Setas Antichcho (mushrooms, chia, miso); Tatare de Atun (tuna tatare, spring onion, radish, wasabi mayo, katsuobushi); Calamares Fritos con Ocopa (baby squid, Peruvian marigold, quinoa); Caramelo con Chocolate (salted caramel ganache, Casamigos tequila, spicy mango); Sundae de Maiz (corn sundae, sweet corn ice cream, caramel pop corn). Outstanding flavours and presentation!
Casamigos Tequila is available to buy from Selfridges and Harvey Nichols; and across exclusive venues in London including Sketch, Nobu and The London Edition. Disclaimer - I was invited as a guest but all opinions are my own.
