Last night I had the pleasure of trying some summer salad recipes that recently hit JamieOliver.com – along with fellow foodies, some fab folk from Jamie's team, and the great man himself. At Jamie's HQ, I found myself in food styling heaven. Hope nobody thought I was crazy, going round "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing" and stroking the props and wooden backdrops!
We were greeted with summer cup (vodka, vermouth, ginger ale, cucumber and fresh fruit), negroni, and this stunning summer fruit punch with edible flowers from Greens Of Devon.
Pete Wrapson grew all the vegetables himself. They were divine.
Soon it was time to eat! We were treated to a superfood salad with roasted sweet potato and quinoa (recipe), a Waldorf salad with refreshing apples and a yoghurt dressing (recipe), a splendid roast chicken Cobb salad (recipe), tabbouleh with sumac and pistachio (recipe), a Cypriot style potato salad (recipe) and – a crowd favourite – Asian prawn and papaya salad (recipe).
Hey, Subi and Abby!
Have you ever seen anything as beautiful and inviting as this Eton mess? I definitely want to recreate this for a future dinner party. It really brings everyone together to have some fun with dessert.
We were generously encouraged to take a selection of salad and vegetables home at the end of the evening. Here is Teresa modelling the 'kohlrabi bag'. I think we're onto a fashion trend here... or maybe we're just channeling that farmers' market episode of Parks & Recreation!
A big thanks to Jamie, Subi, Abby, Pete, Merlin, Maddie and all others involved in hosting an incredible evening!
