Disclosure: I was invited to dine at Jidori. All opinions are my own.
Walking along the high street in Dalston, each joint and establishment has its own unique character, and together it makes a wonderfully diverse and vibrant neighbourhood. A few weeks ago, this new-to-us small restaurant caught my eye immediately. Jidori's interiors are stunning – minimalist, balanced, pastel colours – pretty much how I'd like my ideal home to look. That day I was actually on my way to dine elsewhere, but couldn't resist a quick pre-dinner dinner (a 'bang-bang', any Louis CK fans?) and loved every bite. This week I returned to try the new Omakase menu – a selection of yakitori with sides and small plates.
The frozen yuku margarita with a kick of chilli was sublime, as was my favourite shiso lemonade. Both perfect for a hot, muggy, English summer's evening!
We ordered two sharing plates – tempura okra and Koji fried chicken – along with the Omakase menu to try a variety of yakitori served with some set sides. Every dish was beautifully presented and flavours were well thought-out.
I've now been to Jidori twice and am completely smitten. Tasty dishes, elegant decor and friendly service... what more could I ask for?
