Brunch at La Goccia in Petersham Nurseries
Disclosure: I was invited to dine as a guest
Hamish turned 4 months today. What sweeter way to celebrate than brunch with friends at Petersham Nurseries? Truth is: as lovely as that sounds in theory, I was horrendously nervous about bringing an energetic, barely-house-trained, teething pup to such a gorgeous restaurant. Thankfully I needn't have worried. The staff were instantly smitten with Hamish and greeted him with cuddles and a water bowl. As I prepared for dog-owner life, I had imagined that social outings would mostly be confined to pubs and parks. I nearly jumped for joy to discover both the Covent Garden and Richmond locations of Petersham Nurseries are dog-friendly.
It's been over half a year since all of my #IGBrunchClub buddies were in the same city, at the same time. How special it is to meet and feast at La Goccia! The breakfast dishes blew me away. My favourites: the baked eggs with spiced tomato, nduja, oregano and yoghurt; and the brioche with Gobino chocolate and hazelnut.
Then, since we are a greedy lot, we also ordered some small plates – cicchetti – from La Goccia's a-la-carte menu. The trio pictured below were insanely good: anchovies with sage (upon tasting, we immediately ordered a second plate); fried Haye Farm chicken with aioli; and courgette flowers. I was personally too full to try the pizzetta but my friends gave them enthusiastic praise.
As I type this, it has barely been 5 hours since this glorious meal and I already want to go back... with the pup in tow, of course. See you again soon, La Goccia!
